I may be a little late to the podcasting craze, but I’m hooked. I recently got a new phone because mine jumped off a cliff (figuratively, not literally). When I got my fancy-dancy new phone, I got a free pair of Beats Wireless headphones (sadly, not sponsored!). New gadgets = revolutionized morning routine.
I used to feel guilty about taking time in the morning to go for a walk and spend time on myself. I figured if I was up early, I should be working. Or at least, that’s what I told myself as I lazily floundered in bed. Anyhow! When I got my new phone and headphones, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to start a new routine.
I am now regularly getting up at a decent time, lacing up my tennis shoes, heading outside, and listening to a podcast. It makes such a difference! Instead of focusing on how tired I feel, or how much longer I have to walk, I get lost in listening to bits of advice, new ideas, and current trends. I love it!
I no longer feel guilty about taking this time because I know I am investing in myself and the business. I finally feel like I am learning again - whether I am bettering myself or sharpening my content writing skills. Either way, it is infusing a new found energy in my mornings! And as a side bonus, I love all of the beautiful sunrises I have seen!
Here are the three binge-worthy podcasts I’ve been listening to lately!
Happier with Gretchen Rubin:
Several years ago I read “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin, and loved it. As a happy person by nature, I am intrigued with what makes us happy and how to cultivate happiness in our everyday lives. I also love learning about habits and how they can shape and limit us.
This podcast has quickly become my favorite. Every week there is a new post that offers practical tips for making your life a little happier and insight on the many habits that influence us individually and the people in our lives. If you like a little self-reflection, appreciate practical tips and want to feel inspired to simplify your life, I encourage you to listen to this podcast!
Copyblogger FM:
This podcast makes me excited to be in the content marketing business and inspires me to keep learning. Sonia Simone does a fantastic job providing relevant and timely insight and advice regarding content marketing, copywriting, email marketing, etc. I love how she dives into specific topics and gives tangible and actionable insight I can implement into my business.
You do not have to be a writer or a marketing professional to enjoy this podcast. I think anyone who owns a business or is involved in some capacity in creating content could benefit from listening to this podcast. This podcast makes me feel like “Wow, technically I’m working, but this feels fun!”
Grammar Girl - Quick and Dirty Tips for Better Writing:
Okay, I didn’t know if I was going to enjoy listening to a podcast about grammar - but honestly, Mignon Fogarty provides exceptionally useful and easy to remember tips that you need to know. You have no excuse to make those annoying and stereotypical grammar mistakes.
Listening to these episodes wakes up different parts of my brain and helps me think more critically about my writing. I hope by listening I will strengthen my skills and even expand my vocabulary. If you are looking for a fun and engaging way to learn more about grammar (it’s nothing like your 7th grade English class), you should try this podcast out.
So, tune-in and let me know what you think about these podcasts. And please leave your favorite podcasts in the comments below or on Facebook! I want to find some new favorites!
